Stealing Snow

This is the first book I’ve read by Christina Henry and I must say that I am blown away! The amount of detail that she puts out from not just one, but two worlds is flawless.

The book starts off with Snow in a mental asylum (It seems mental asylums are in right now) dealing with her day to day life and her coming to grips with it. We see her struggle with her past, the present struggles in the asylum and her struggle with the anger towards her mother. Henry paints a beautiful yet tormented figure of Snow and her “friends” that hook you into the story. We soon learn that Snow is having these dreams of another world, Algid and it soon comes  to pass that she is confronted with a boy from that world and learns that she too is from there. Her dearest friend, and what she believes her love Bale, is stolen and it becomes a race to find him before it’s too late.

I absolutely loved this book and could not put it down! My favourite parts of the book were when Snow is confronted with something new, rises to the occasion and never gives in. When she has to learn to be a robber and learn from infuriating  Jagger, who seems to be growing on her, is probably my favourite scenario she faces as every girl can relate to the awkwardness of that age.

The twists and turns in the second half of the book are incredible and come at you at such a pace.Henry weaves  a wonderfully dark and twisted tale which is a beautiful retelling of a classic. I look forward to reading the next in the series and will be recommending this book to all! Feel free to leave a comment if you have read it or are looking forward to reading it. It goes without saying but this is FRIENDLY RATING: LIAM
