The series is Outlander by Diana Gabaldon and it is made up currently of 8 books. It is now a major T.V series on Amazon Prime, but before that it was a series of fiction. I have heard snippets of the books for a time now, either from people chatting or recommendations on my amazon search. I just haven’t gotten around to actually reading it yet. But that is soon to change I hope!
I have seen the series on Amazon Prime and I have been singing its praises since episode 1. The story is very unique and it engages the viewer from the onset. The basic premise of the story is about a woman, Claire, who is visiting Scotland in the 1940s with her husband. As he is looking into his family tree, Claire goes sightseeing for herself when she comes upon some rocks she learns later that it is called Craigh na Dun. Now, I don’t want to give much away, but the story is these rocks hold a mystic power and can transport a person to another time. Well Claire, not believing in that power, touches the rocks and finds herself transported back to the 1700’s. It is up to her now to figure out how to get back to her home, but also- and most importantly-how to survive.
The story is fast paced and never dull for a moment and I can only believe that the books would do the same. I will be buying these books as soon as my current TBR pile has dwindled (not long to go) and I will post my thoughts and reviews about the series as I go.
If any of you have read the series I welcome your comments and I look forward to chatting about it!
